This piece came out of a heavy internal dialogue—something I was going through without fully realising it at the time. I painted it during a week when I had some difficult decisions to make, and I felt overwhelmed by the pressure of choosing the right path. I kept turning it over in my mind and talking it through with friends. Usually, when I paint, I’m able to put those thoughts aside and clear my head, especially when something is weighing on me.

But this time was different. For the first time I can clearly recognise that those thoughts found their way into the painting. 

My conscious concerns slipped into my intuitive process and took shape on the canvas, creating a piece that holds both at once—what I was thinking, and what I was feeling beneath it.
